Default video card

hey, i found this card, which i think is a really good deal, but other have told me to check out the nvidia 7600gt and 7900gt. can someone take a look at the card i found and then let me know if theres anything better for the price.

btw, im running a athlon 3200 on socket 939 with the ati xpress 200 onboard video right now. 4x256mb ram in dual channel

Its a good deal, although Im sure a 7600GT outperforms it, the x800XL may have more pipelines but the 7600 has a newer core and faster clock speeds. It also supports sm 3.0 where as the x800XL doesnt.

the difference in ram, pipelines and 128-bit vs. 256-bit and you'd still go w/ the 7600gt?

ram doesn't make a huge difference in graphics cards. The x800XL seems to be comparable to the 6800GT or 6800 ultra.

look at some benchmarks:

the 7600GT out performs the X800XL

Not sure how accurate those benchmarks are though I'm sure someone else will shed some light on the matter.
