I have a desktop with a via p4pb 400 mainboard and a 2.4 gz celeron. I would like to put a P4 into it to help me do some multimedia work. I have looked on a couple of pages and found really vague statements like "will support up to 2.2 ghz and higher P4 cpu". Is there any way to quantify what "and higher" means?

Thanks

Higher usually means like 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 gHz... if your going to be doing multimedia work I would go for a new Motherboard and at least dual core CPU... you can usuall find an older model on newegg for around $100... I paid $110 for my mobo 3 years ago and have an AMD X2 2.8gHz processor... so if you can spend the money that would be the best option I think... but if you are just wanting the new processor... then getting a faster P4 would do the trick.... as close to 3.0gHz if possible... I havn't found if there is a limit on your MOBO but based on what you found... you should be ok with a faster P4.
