Upgrading to what??

So i have some money to upgrade my computer i want it be up-to-date, if it not already is, so im asking for your help since my hardware knowledge isent that big.
I ofcourse know what is the newest, but just because it is new dosent mean it is the best, right?

Too make a long story short, what should i upgrade?

This is my current build:
AMD FX-9590
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3, Socket-AM3+
XFX ProSeries Core Edition 750W PSU
HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Red
Sapphire Radeon TRI-X R9 280X 3GB

Well, do you have an SSD? If not, get one. Otherwise, go for a better GPU.

I have a SSD, thinking of a R9 290, sounds like a good card.

You already have a 280x, get the 290x or GTX 970 instead or wait for the newer launch.

Your system isn't really lacking, the 280X isn't the top card but by far isn't lacking either, Like PP said either go for the 290X or GTX970 or just wait for the next release of cards. If you have cash just put it in the bank and keep saving, When the next cards come out you might have enough to get the next level up on cards.

Idk man, 7970/680/770/280x are starting to get a tad rough with games like Dragon Age.

Well the thing is i dont know how it would handle newer games like Assasins Creed, Far Cry and GTA V, what do you guys think?

The 280x? Fine. Can't speak on GTA V though, nobody knows.
