need to upgrade a computer here at work, it has a socket A Athlon XP, with a processor speed of 1.1ghz. i goto newegg and find these:

these are more expensive than socket 754 processors...was wondering if it would be optimal to just upgrade the board to a newer socket to have a larger variety of processors to choose from, and cheaper...or to jsut upgrade w/ the XP processor? also, do the newer processors perform better?. i'm looking for the best performance i can get under $300, and i'm starting w/ an Athlon XP 1.1ghz w/ 480mhz Kingsomething craptacular ram.
