upgrading an older X58

Time for an upgrade. I've done a fair bit of research but I just get confused with so much info. so would like a clearer opinion. I don't need 24 GB of ram, I think I'll start out with 8 GB, and then go with a video card but I don't need the greatest GPU and I want this system to last me another 5 years or so:

EVGA X58 motherboard with Noctua NH D14 cooler overclocked to 3.7 Ghz., Intel 930 CPU, 650 W PSU,

I want: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB SSC GAMING ACX 3.0, 03G-P4-6167-KR, 3GB GDDR5, LED,

Do you think this would be safe? It's for some gaming, but some CAD also.

Yeah but will it work? I don't care so much about playing the latest games.

Depends on what you mean by latest games. Because of your air cooler you're limited on OC (although 4GHz should still be doable) and only 8GB of RAM. I wish I wouldn't have sold my 960 so I could test on games that are more recent compared to older. I do have a video of a 2500k and even though it worked alright I was also using both of my Titan Xps in it. I suppose it just all depends on what you want to play. I would definitely consider at least 12GB.
