Upgrading Old Reliable

Well, I've had this PC from 2004, its been pretty good ever since. With some upgrades of course.
Its pretty good now, but I've decided to max it out, and make it even better, try to make it last another 5 years, or more.

This is pretty much what it has now:

what all are you planning to do with said computer?

all in all looks good for upgrades! that monitor is hawt
also make sure you can find vista drivers for that sound card.

Just general and online gaming. Some Dev stuff like modeling, fooling around with some game engines, designing a few things.

Gosh, I'm realizing I got ripped big time with a local PC Shop.
He charged me $60 for 512MB of RAM. If I knew I could have had 2GB for the same price, I would have got this a long time ago.
Though I did not know about NewEGG back then.

I know, it really does not matter though, for 15 bucks I'll take the chance.
As long as its better that intergraded. Though, the speakers will make it better anyways.

dude i really really really doubt that it will be better then integrated. But like you said it's only 15 bucks, not much to loose.

If you want to make the computer last another 5 years you might want to upgrade the processor and motherboard. Based off of your current motherboard you are running a Pentium 4 or Celeron which are becoming a little dated and are significantly slower than a modern dual core processor. For $227 before mail in rebates you can get a AMD Athlon x2 4800+ , Foxconn 780g motherboard with integrated ATi HD3200 graphics, 2x1gb of DDR2 800 ram, and a FSP Group 400w power supply which will be a huge upgrade from your current system

Well, something went bad about Intergraded card, every speaker I hook up to it, only the right one works. So this will defiantly be better, I'll look at some others though.

Great, thanks, I've been thinking of rebuilding... Hmm, this all it not to much, are they great parts for performance?
I got 3 questions...
1. I've really never used an AMD possessor, the one you suggested, is it a good one? (Haha, saw the "Dual Core" Now I about know its way better than mine, just making sure though)
2. If I get these parts, does it mean my PC will be 64Bit, and I need a 64Bit OS? (Of course, just making sure :freak
3. So if I buy these parts, its basically building a High Performance PC? Or in between, I know its a big upgrade from what I have..
