Dude, the 5300, and 7400 just came out! Find a GTX 280 for $300, and a Gygbabyt UD3P, and you'll have an awesome computer. Maybe 2x 4830's, if you can't afford it.

unlikely seeing as 4830 would need a decent mobo there are better around like the biostar

Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TForce TP45HP LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

If you are on a tight budget... I'd say something like this:

Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AM3201-EF8450A Phenom X3 8450(2.1GHz) 3GB DDR2 320GB ATI Radeon HD 3200 Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit (English / French) - Desktop PCs

then look for a video card and you have a decent (and better) system than your dell. The only constrant to this would be the PSU and how much it could push on the +12v side and what kind of GPU you could get... (I.E. a GTX 260/280 probably wouldn't work in this system)

So this what I got so far

CPU: E8400
MOBO: BIOSTAR TForce TP45HP
GPU: EVGA 9800GT (For right now till I get extra money)
RAM: OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4Gb
CASE: Antec 900
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 600W

I also have to order an operating system. Is there any way that the cost can be cut with out cutting a lot of performance? Thanks for all the great replies.

How does the 9800gt do in games like WoW, Fallout 3 and other newer games. Oh and another quick question, should I get a quad core in stead of the dual for future proofing. I know with the i7 that it is the best.

9800 will handle wow maxed out fine, fallout 3 very nicely.
Quad core is probably slight overkill at the moment.

I am more or so looking for future proof like a q6600 or a q8200. How long will the E8400 last me in games that are comming out.
