So should I go with ATI or Nvidia. Any other recommendations are welcome. Keep in mind you could throw anything in my computer and it would be an upgrade.

EVGA GTX 260 Core 216
EVGA 9800 GTX+
BFG 9800 GX2
HIS 4850 1gb
HIS 4870 1gb

What resolution do you play at?

I would provisionally say Gtx 260 core 216

Actually get this
Newegg.com - BFG Tech BFGEGTX2801024E GeForce GTX 280 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I would love to get the GTX 280 but it is a little out of my budget. I also just saw the AMD Phenom II X4 940, would it better to go the AMD route for price?

I thought about but, I started putting the items in the cart and it get rather expensive really quick, so what if I crossfired 4830 or got a 9800gt just for now.

Ok get this
cpu: E5250
mobo: gigabyte ds3r
ram: corsair xms2 dhx ($39 after rebate)
Gpu: bfg 280 I previously linked to
psu: Ocz around 500W (really cheap after rebate)

Now do the finger work and that should come at budget, if possible add a sunbeam core contact freezer or an arctic cooling 7 heatsinkfan

Thanks a lot

So you don't think AMD would be better?
Oh and I don't see the E5250, just the E5200 and E5300

Whoops my bad the E5200 I have way to many model codes stuffed into my brain that I mess up sometimes. The next step up but I think this may be over budget would be the E7300
