It's gonna have an older PSU in it, and if you're lucky enough to have a 6pin PCI-E connector on it a 1050 should run fine.

How do I tell the difference between a PCI-E Connector and a 6pin one? Mine has one.

What kind of GPU can I purchase to upgrade?

Tahnks!

If it has a 6pin it'll be a PCI-E connector. The above mentioned, a 1050.

Great! I bought the GTX 1050 and I can go on Ultra/Extreme settings!

The CPU is the weakest link at the moment. I'd like to upgrade it. What is the best CPU I can get for the bang for the buck with my motherboard? I'm currently using the Core 2 Quad.

I'm looking for the same answer of just as I had upgraded to the 1050 GTX, what is a reasonable upgrade that would do the trick for the CPU?

Thanks so much!!!

Nothing. That's the best CPU for that motherboard and it's not holding back for Starcraft 2. For more modern games you'll need a new motherboard, DDR4 RAM, and a new processor.
