Default updating network card in few year old computer help??

I am looking into upgrading my sis in laws nic card. She wants to connect to the internet a little faster. She has DSL at around 300k speed. Right now she has emachines t3410 desktop with 1.0 x Network - Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX - 15 pin nic card. Is that upgradable to some of the newer tech, or is it just that outdated, say the speed of the motherboard is limited to that no matter what i put in. Thanks any help would be appreciated.

I don't think updating it will get you any faster. Could be wrong, though.

If her DSL connection is 300k, then upgrading the 10/100Mb card wont help at all.

You can help the speed out a tad by upgrading the parts in the computer like the CPU and RAM and then upping the cache size on the browser so frequently visited sites load larger images off the drive.
