Default Unlocking Cores with an AMD CPU

I have been thinking about a new build recently. I was checking out this processor. I see in the reviews people saying that they have unlocked it into a quad core. Can anyone tell me if they have done this and how its done and if i need a specific board.

Default Re: Unlocking Cores with an AMD CPU

You need a board with ACC so to be safe get a board with the 750 southbridge. Some of the 710's will as well.

Many people have unlocked cores but they can be unstable. They will also effect how much you can overclock. It is luck of the draw. Most of them have cores locked for a reason.

Here is a great board to look at:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 :: INTEL i7 920 @3.4 :: XFX GTX260 :: 6gb Corsair 1600 :: Corsair 750TX :: TRUE 120 :: Samsung T240 24" :: Windows 7 X64

I do not accept support questions via PM
