I was previously looking into upgrading to dual monitor setup around 24-27inch but I started to notice that DVI format is going bye bye and most newer monitors don't even have the dvi input.

seeing someone post about laptop 4k output that gave me an idea

instead of dual monitor I can just go with a widescreen ultra HD monitor and get a video card that supports that

just wanted peoples opinions on either choice.
and why is dvi dying out? because of hdmi or other cause?

You looking at it for gaming? If you are, you'll need a seriously beefy GPU setup to hold any kind of decent FPS.

If you're looking for using it in Windows I would still look at a dual monitor setup unless you can handle scaling issues until better 4k support comes around.

DVI is taking a stride because the connector is bulky and HDMI pretty much dominates the screen and home theater scene. Personally, I'd rather Display Port take over as it has a much higher bandwidth and allows daisy chain.

scaling issues?

the last game I bought is tron legacy im not into games too much.

music movies and internet and school on that desktop
