Default Tweaking Performance and/or Upgrades

Not sure if this is the right forum, but...

I just recently installed Bad Company 2, and... well... the performance sucks. Even on lowest settings.

I have 1.5GBs of RAM, 3.0 GHz Processor, and an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro. I want to upgrade my performance without spending very much, preferably free. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ouch! You're running a single core Pentium 4 and DDR RAM, plus an obsolete GFX card. That's much worse than my setup was when I first got BFBC2 (AMD dual core, 4GB DDR, GTX 260) and the game was laggy and almost unplayable.

Define not much, as in what is your budget? I can tell you BFBC2 likes quads as it eats dual cores for breakfast.

Budget? Probably only like 100 dollars, would that make a difference?

I know there are a few DDR3's of RAM on tigerdirect good under 100.

Your computer can't use DDR3. Actually, your motherboard and CPU can't. You will need to change out your motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Your graphics card will work, but today's onboard (such as the HD4200 or 7250) will outperform it.

Even it you went for an Athlon II x2 dual core, a AM3/AM2+/AM2 board, and DDR2, you would be looking at closer to $200.

* AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor (Model: ADX245OCGQBOX)
* ASUS AM3/AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA Geforce 7025/nForce 630a Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (Model: M2N68-AM PLUS)
* G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (Model: F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ)

Combo Price: $148.99

Here's a quad combo >$200
* AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus 2.9GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor (Model: ADX635WFGMBOX)
* GIGABYTE AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 740G Micro ATX Motherboard (Model: GA-MA74GM-S2)
* WINTEC AMPO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory (Model: 3AMD2800-2G2K-R)

Combo Price: $173.00

So you think these will help a lot?

Looking at it, seems like an alright deal.

The quad deal would be awesome to you compared to your current setup.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll save up as much as I can (I'm 13, so it's not that easy lol) and go for a combo like that.

Thats a good plan.. right now adding to your system is just wasted money.

2-250, probably need a new power supply, is a good money goal to have. Then when you have the money, you look for the best current deals.
