turning an external hard drive off

I have got this external hard drive. I was wondering should i turn it off when i am not using it. or i can just leave it on all the time?

With PC's its actually better to leave them on, So if this was the active harddrive I would say leave it on, but its only storage so you can turn it off when not using it.
