trying to install and operating system.

Hi, I am trying to install an operating system I have expierience with comptuers I just need some direction. here is the story

the computer will promp and say "invalid file disk remove disk and press a key. I dont have a floppy drive so that isnt the problem. I put in my windows 98 operating disk and nothing happends. What do I have to do the computer recongnizes the drive and the space on the drive. I need help would somebody go throught this with me step by step or even post some opinions. thanks

you must have a floppy drive to install most operating systems b/c u need a startup disk to load dos up into the flash ram and also for fdisk utilities and such
