Default Time for new GPU?

I got an Asus HD 7770 last year used for $75. It's purpose was to play CoD Ghosts. It worked fine. Now after every two matches the screen goes black with the cursor there. I get the same result when over clocked a bit and at stock speed. I was thinking maybe an HDD issue but it did the same on the SSD and HDD. When I connected two different monitors via vga-dvi both screens went purple. When I connected from dvi to hdmi I got no signal. It only works when I connect hdmi to dvi to my tv. What could it be?

I found an R9 270X on Kijiji for $150, is it worth it? I would like to keep my budget at $200
