Default temp surge

OK I was just surfing the net and listening to music, when all of a sudden my comp started screaming like a banshee. It went up to 192 F or 88 C, and the cpu rpm was about 5300. So I restarted the comp and it went back to a normal 37 C. What happened here?

did the heatsink fan ever shut off. Did you check the connection from the heatsink fan to the motherboard. Its possable that the heatsink fan shut off. You still were able to dispence heat from your cpu but very inafficiantly. Then your heatsink turned back on and tried to catch back up to the tempature that your cpu was at.
