Hi All,

I currently have an Abit IC7-G mobo that I'd like to replace since it had a minor meltdown a month ago (3 out of the 4 sata ports are shot). What would be a good replacement from newegg.com? My budget can go up to $200 if its a worthwhile replacement that can work with a future upgrade in processors. My current rig consists of:

Pentium P4 2.4Ghz CPU
1.5GB's of Kingston PC3200 ram
Plextor 716SA
Sony DRU510
ATI 9700
Echo miaMIDI
Seagate 120GB sata x2

Recommendations, opinions, comments are all welcome, thanks!

unless you plan on formatting your hdd and reinstalling windows, i would stick with the same motherboard. if you find a different one with the same chipset, you MIGHT be able to get away with a repair install.

just check out the high-end motherboard on newegg.com. read the reviews and do some googling. i've heard the asus p4c800deluxe or whatever was pretty good. asus and abit are good brands. intel makes good boards for intel cpu's too (go figure)

Thanks for your replies guys!

molsen, I do intend on reformatting my HDD and starting fresh.

reggie_da_man, we'll see. I'm on the fence so I may very well build a new pc and give the present one to my girlfriend (with a new mobo). I'll scout the reviews on newegg and other places...
