Still confused

I guess I want to buy 2 * 256 MB memory sticks, since I've been told they must be installed in pairs.

But when I go on newegg.com, there are tons of selections...

What is compatible with my Dell Dimension 4600 desktop? And which brand should I get? Is it just a matter of lowest price? This seems so confusing....

someone needs to make sure that standard DDR ram is compatible! Does dell screw up the key? I was trying to help him in another thread, but we never found out.

Memory type


PC2700 (333-MHz) or PC3200 (400-MHz) DDR SDRAM
(non-ECC)

So you can use either Tobes' link for PC 2700 RAM:

PC3200 is a little faster than PC2700, and a couple of bucks more expensive.

well the thing is that PC uses PC 2700 so that would be the better choice as you cant OC dells

If you get the pc3200 you will be able to put it in you next computer

The computer can either either one, according to its posted specs.

The PC3200 would be a bit faster, between the two.

corsair value ram is a popular choice

The Rosewill brand is about half the price of the Corsair. Does anyone know about Rosewill and think its ok? Thanks....
