Step-Up Program?

I'm a bit confused while reading the details for the Step-Up program. What is it exactly, and how does it benefit EVGA users?

If you buy a card from evga and register it, u can upgrade to a better card and pay the difference between prices within 90 days of purchasing the original card. From what i understand, u get credit for what you paid not the price when you're upgrading, so a price drop is a big plus.

So meaning if I got my EVGA card for $100, they take that price and subtract it from let's say a $300 8800GTS and that means it'll only cost my $200 for it?

yes.. but u do pay retail price

Yeah, you're gonna be paying the price evga has it as, and you'll be sending your old card back, and... if you bought your card for 100 and all the prices drop 50 dollars your card is now worth 50, you still get your 100 back and its 250-100 not 250-50. At least evga is wording it this way, I have no experience using the program but I also need to know as I intend to take advantage of it.

Oh wow. That's going to be a hassle though.

Not really just register your card, the only downside is your system will be down for a few days unless you got a spare gpu lying around.
