spare laptop HD to use as a usb HD

i'm not very sure if it can be done, i had a broken laptop which i removed the 40 gig HD from, can it be possible to use it through a usb point on my dell laptop?.

yea you need to buy a "caddie" its basily a case for internal hdd but make sure you get the small size one for you laptop sata or ide 3.5" i think is the right size

its 2.5" actually 3.5" is a desktop hard drive and is the largest mainstream hdd both in size, capacity and performance

Yeah, they are advertised for Macs, but the model with USB 2.0 will work fine on any computer.

ziceman - I don't know if you have a PC world in northern ireland, because they go for around 20quid, I think that's the standard price as far as I know... All you need to do is make sure you get the right size because I picked up one that I thought was for a 3.5in drive and it was for a 2.5in drive.
