you should be able to run hl2 with decent fps on that low resolution monitor

Only if he has a fairly decent video card. Also, he might need to turn off AA and HDR.

see I didn't really understand that, if I did, I wouldnt need help... Im not very computer savvy. I have no idea how to figure out how to find a compatible videocard.

well wat could be the bare minimum for HL2 to work. This is a bit expensive for me.

This video card should play it on medium setting at 800x600 or maybe 1024x768
