The Mobo blew in my PC, so I'm upgrading...

The Mobo i was looking at is GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4
Of course i'd need a new CPU and RAM, so i was looking at:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Dual Core
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB)

What i'm upgrading from:
Chaintech VNF4 Ultra
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Single Core
3GB RAM
XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB
Rosewill RP550 550W PSU

Does that sound like a good upgrade? I do some gaming, i'm getting into more gaming. I'd like it to be able to play some of the newer games without too much trouble, Bioshock, The Orange Box etc...
Is the Dual Core all its cracked up to be?
I'm looking to spend about 300ish... (the refund i'm getting from the gov't)

Since you are buying a new motherboard and processor I recommend switching to Intel since they currently offer better performance than AMD. Dual Core is all its cracked up to be and at this point there is no reason to get a single core processor.

Processor
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Wolfdale 2.66GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors

Motherboard
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Memory
Newegg.com - Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
