AM2: DDR2 support
AM2: various electrical differences
AM2: if you use this socket type, you can upgrade to opteron later

info on AM2:

performance results:

from the preformance results, you can see that there was either a large or almost invisible FPS increase in some games/software when using the AM2.. so for the extra like 5 bucks.. or depending on how much you want to upgrade/the jump in money for the Mobo and DDR2 ram. just make sure your processor is a AM2 socket and you have ddr2 ram if you're upgrading.

post your mobo/ram specs if you can get your hands on them :)

939s are being phased out. 939s use DDR RAM.

AM2 is the new direction for AMD, and they use DDR2 instead of DDR.

I've heard that AMD are going to keep 939 in the lineup for a nice while in the future, for future budget processors.

^nope, check anand tech and dailytech you can find end of life charts for 939 a 754.

Also, AM2 is foreward compatible with AM3 (whenever that happens).
