sli or better graphics card

i have a 7900gs right now and playing an mmorpg pretty decently without anti-aliasing and decided i should upgrade my graphics card.

should i sli? or should i buy high end cards? which is cheaper // more efficient?

ps: can someone recommend me on a better video card? budget is $250

if you can find a cheap 7900gs, it would work for awhile longer at pretty high settings, depending on the game of course.
