Ok so I want to buy a new computer. I'm an intel guy for life... and i've been looking at all the Dual-Cores chips, etc. My question is should I wait for this new chip the CONROE? Will the CONROE be way too expensive at release? Will Dual-Core prices drop? Thanks.

I see you are slightly put off by those numbers (1.8GHZ) this is one way of comparing a processor, but is not very accurate. AMD CPU's and this new Conroe do more calculations per clock so do not need as high clock rate to do the same amount of work.
The 2m is the cache size. The 1.8ghz one has 2mibibytes and the E6700 has 4Mibibytes.
As for your actual last question, I would say a substantial amount, but not overly sure if it is that much. The E6400 or E6600 seems to be a nice middle of the road that will easily hit the 2.4ghz.

well ive got a p4 1.5ghz and its a sturdy, long lasting and pretty decend processor, its done nothing bad to me at all but i bought a new computer after 5 years of this intel and i chose amd, and i can feel the boost, its amazing, dont know bout new dual core intels but single core amd owns all the way, and even now id go for an amd dual core over an intel tbh.
