my step-up @ evga is running out of days.

i can upgrade my vanilla gtx 280 for a vanilla 285 for $62. + 20mir ($42 after mir)
the 285 @ stock is allmost as good as the 280 overclocked.

this would give me another 90 days to get the 295.

keep in mind that evga prices on the 285 are the same as newegg.

i have 32 days left currently, and im not sure if ill make the extra cash for the 295 by then.

is it worth it atleast to buy me more time?

It should only be like $150-$200 for a 295...but beware the thing is hot and loves to put out heat.

Folding on mine slightly oc'd is 67C on a 511 unit.

On extreme overclock forum, someones got results on the evga backplate thing, which drops 20C off load.

yeah mine gets to about 65* when folding.
its not "hot" per say...but it will warm my hands up when i touch it. its a little cooler than my 4870 1gb at load...but much quieter.
what backplate thing do you speak of?
