$400-450 building your own. You'd get much farther, trust me.

If you tell us what you'll be doing with it, we can help you find some good parts.

there's not much you could upgrade to make that dell better, so like macdude said if you tell us what you'll be using the computer for we can help you.

You may have to expand your budget a little bit because just a decent video card is going to run you $170.

you're not gonna be able to play oblivion on relatively high settings for $450. you should see if you can increase your budget like macdude said.

You can get something like this, BUT there are a few IF's to throw in...

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice - 94.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103603

Mobo - MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 - 64.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130491

RAM - G.SKILL 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM - 87.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231079

PSU - COOLMAX CR-450B ATX 450W "140mm Fan" Power Supply - 42.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817159031

Video - MSI NX6600 Ares Geforce 6600 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 - 102.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127096

Case - XION XION _ Solaris XON-403 Black with Green LED Light Steel ATX Mid Tower - 39.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811208009

This setup is a basic system... nothing fancy... 433.00 without shipping...

You have to take the Hard drive, DVD and CD drives from your old computer... And you have to get an OS cause when you pull the hard drive you have to reformat when you build... barring that, you might need to up your budget some, if you wanna get the rest of the parts instead of pulling...
