Default Scsi, Ide,sata

can anyone tell me which of these scsi,ide,sata is best for a hard drive and the pros and cons. Also how can i tell if i have a SATA II hard drive is it different wiring? I just wish to expand my knowledge of computers i built my own, but still learning. Any information would be very much appriciated thankyou chaps!

2nd: SATA
3rd: IDE
