Sata & pata

Hi,

I keep on reading that people have problems with Sata and Pata drives working together.

I am starting my build tonight, and i think i have everything i need. Although i have a SATA HDD and a PATA DVD Drive. I have one IDE slot on my MB.

How does the pc know which is the master and which is the slave as there is only one PATA?

Do i need to do anything to make this configuration work?

Master and slave on IDE drives is set by the back of the drive. There are jumpers back there.

But It doesn't matter if you have a SATA HDD and a PATA DVD drive, they will work fine together regardless. I've been running my machine for over 4 years like that.
