SATA Controller Card overloads PCI Bus?

Hi,
I'm upgrading a PC and I'm thinking about installing either an ATA/100 or SATA/150 PCI card and hard drive. This got me to thinking that if the maximum transfer rate of the PCI slot is 133 MB/s, could this overload the PCI bus, or in the case of the SATA drive, would the drive's full potential be limited? Is it possible that the sustained transfer rates of the drive are not high enough to actually overload the bus?

What actually runs over the PCI bus? Probably my audio chip and my PCI cards and that's it right? Anything else? Does USB have its own bus?

What about the existing integrated hard drive controller (ATA/66) on the motherboard? Does that have its own bus or is that running over the PCI bus?

Basically I want to know if this upgrade will actully provide better system performance or if I'd be getting faster hard drive speeds while having to sacrifice other areas of the PC.

Thanks for all your help!
