SATA Confusion ...

Im getting confused becasue i dont know weather Hard Drives are compatible with the motehoard becasue on scan.co.uk The Hard Drive sare Nearly all SATA300 (whats that ??) and then The Motherboards are Called SATA 1 or 2... Does this mean none of there listed harddrives work with any of there mothboards ?.

they willl work... SATA is backward compatable with any version.

So if i got a sata 2 mobo.. i could support any Hard Disk unless its IDE ?

All motherboards have at least 1 IDE port.

Sata1 is sata150 and sata2 is sata300. Sata300 is backwards compatible meaning you can have Sata2 hdd on a sata1 mobo (may need a jumper) and a Sata1 hdd on a sata2 mobo.

Sata is better than IDE.
