I reeeeeeeeally want to upgrade the CPU on my laptop, which is an Acer Aspire 3500.

As you can see, it's a Dothan core at 400MHz FSB...


Nowwww... If I buy a Pentium M 1.7GHz, which is also[/i] a Dothan core, and also has a 400MHz bus, shouldn't it work?

I e-mailed Acer about it, and all they had to say was they couldn't give me technical information like that, and another 5 paragraphs writing about how it would void my warranty (although that's already gone), and I would be better off buying a new Acer laptop. Sheesh.

it should work, but will the mobo handle the new chip? they run hotter than the celly (I have the same chip in my dell lappy [the M]) the only thing I can say is try it if you have the chip.... but if it's the same specs, just an upgraded chip it should work.
