I have heard from two of my buddies that Gskill makes terrible RAM. They reported, while using some of the Ripjaw 4GB modules, it only took a year for them to burn out. I'm curious, since I'm going to be buying 8 gigs pretty soon, if Gskill actually is crap, if they're pretty good, and their Ripjaw series is just sub-par, or if they both got some weird, defective modules?

Also, since most of you have waaaay more experience than I do, what company would you say produces the most reliable, cost-effective RAM?

These days RAM is RAM and G.Skill makes some of the best. I have an 8GB set in my PC that I've owned for years now.

TEAM make pretty decent RAM for a cheaper cost than most.

To add further to the above fact, their memory could have been accidentally over volted as well which would cause a failure, or something in regards to ignorance while in use. Sometimes auto settings aren't 100% correct or a bad board can short a stick after a while.
