Default Which resolution is better?

Im looking to buy a new TFT monitor, but I have no clue about the which resolution size would fit better. I have a choice of 1280 x 1024 or a widescreen at 1440 x 900. Please help me decide which is best. Here are two links to the rest of the info if needed:

1440x900 is slightly widescreen, and 1280x1024, though a bit distorted is a much more common resolution. It all depends on what you are using the monitor for. For video editting or viewing and such like that, I would suggest 1440x900. For gaming, I would suggest 1280x1024.

Well I'm a web designer and I need to view my web designs etc. for the client. Does that help?

Considering more of the website viewers will probably be viewing the site at 1280x1024 than 1440x900, I would say 1280x1024, simply because it would be easier for you to design the site to work for your native resolution (1280x1024) than guessing how it would look from 1440x900.

Like Kjølen has suggested, I would go with 1280x1024 simply because its a more commonly used resolution.
