Rebuilding an old PC

I took an old PC with a conventional IDE hard drive and took the conventional drive out. I added a brand new Sata controller and 32gb Solid State Hard Drive. Whats the next step?

is it sata type of hdd are detected in your old mobo?
or you already change the mobo?

So, what you're saying is...
You took a PC that was so old it used IDE ribbon cables, you tossed a SATA controller in, and brand new SSD hard drive tech...

Just so you know, that's like putting a V8 engine into a Model T.
Something's bound to go wrong.

Mobo? Don't know the term. So is this really a fool's errand?

And yes, putting an SSD into a computer that's so old it had IDE ribbon cables in it is just a bad idea in general.

I don't know of any reason it would be a problem.

There would be a bottleneck at some point limiting it.
Probably in memory transfer speed, as a board that old is either using DDR 1 or DDR 2 RAM, ****, possibly even SDRAM.

His memory transfer speeds would probably be much too slow to take full advantage of an SSD.

jbc, give us some more info on your system, so we know what you're working with.
It would help us gauge whether or not this is a worthwhile upgrade.

The read/write speeds are higher than standard SATA HDD read/write speeds, and the computer he's upgrading only uses IDE????
I'm not giving SSD too much credit, I think you're giving his IDE rig too much credit.
