Getting this configuration from a local computer store for $1,200 (remember, computer components tend to be costlier here by about 10-15%)

2.67Ghz Intel Core i7 920
Intel X58 motherboard
3GB Corsair DDR3-1333
Geforce GTX 260 896MB
OCZ 32GB SSD + 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
Case Silverstone TJ02
Case fans *2
Power supply 510watts (brand unknown)
Windows vista Business SP1 32-bit

Tested by Windows ME this month..
Boot time : 63secs
Shutdown time : 16secs
PCMark 2005 CPU : 9,264
PCMark 2005 MEM : 8,464
PCMark 2005 HDD: 8,464
World in Conflict (1280*1024) : 60fps
World in Conflict (1680*1050) : 51fps

What do you guys think???

Not a fan of the intel board at all
You should get 6gb of memory and run a 64bit os.
psu is underpowered and probably crap if they will not tell you what it is.

Love the cpu.
Love the gpu. would be nice to know which brand it is.
ssd in nice but not really necessary at the moment.

The intel reference board is crap, to be honest. Only has 4 slots for RAM, useless for triple channel.

Hefe is right, 6gb of RAM and a 64bit OS would have been ideal. (Also, why Vista Business?) Plus getting 1600 speed RAM.

Hopefully you got the core 216 version of the GTX 260.

Also, unknown 510w PSU? Not a good sign.

CPU is great, GPU is great if it's the c216 version, decent HDD setup.

Why was it tested on WinME...?

basically the magazine has featured this and 5 other mid range PCs...this came out as the best value for money...

They haven't given a brand name for the PSU...I did think it was underpowered cause when I was looking at a pc...I was advised for something around 600 watts
Don't know the brand of the GPU also...

What additional information I know of is...

Network card : gigabit
USB ports : 12
Firewire ports : 2
PCI express (x16) : 2
Memory modules : 3
Memory slots : 4
Free PCI slot : 1

Btw it's priced at $1,125 and not $1,200

If the SSD is an OCZ make sure it is a vertex, otherwise don't get it. The cheaper ones aren't that good, and the more expensive ones don't offer much of anything over the Intel x-25.

Don't get a reference Intel mobo. Good brands to look for: Asus, Gigabyte, DFI, Biostar, MSI

Make sure the power supply is either Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, or Seasonic. Don't accept anything else.

Figure out what brand that Video card is.

And are you getting a 3rd party heatsink? Or are they using the stock intel one? Don't overclock with the stock heatsink. And if they sell it overclocked then make sure it has a good cooler.

yup...in the UAE!!!

These are the Motherboards prices I know of
Gigabyte EX58-Extreme - $420
Asus Rampage Extreme 2 - $450
XFX M/B EX58I - $320
Intel M/B EX58 - $320

PSU is a pain here...never able to find good ones here...

Not sure about the heat sink either...will visit the shop maybe today and check it out completely...

an asus p6t would be a nice upgrade from the intel if you could find one.

The boards you listed are serious overclocking boards and not really necessary.

I'm not going to need much overclocking...as my needs are very basic as I just need a pc to run all my adobe and RAW converting softwares with plenty of gaming...

Wondering...I have all my adobe softwares for 32-bit....is it worth for me to look at 64-bit??
