ram upgrade

i want to get some more ram for my laptop. i have a compaq evo n610c. i currently have 512mb/ 1gig max. i am going to buy it on a COMPUSA that a blobk away. my question is what should i know when buying the ram?like which one will work in my laptop. i was told i would need 200pin? what is that?
