Can anyone explain to me what PC4200,PC3200,PC2700,PC2100 stand for, and it you have PC3200 ram, and i added a PC4200 stick of ram, does the PC4200 slow down to PC3200 and vice versa. thanks
as for the question yes it does slow to 3200 , also FYI buying a ddr higher then 3200 doesnt actually give you a better performance as no boards offically support higher then 3200, ddr higher then 3200 is good only for overclock it gives much more lets say "bandwidth" otherwise no need to buy it
Yep, the motherboard will only run the RAM at the speed of the slowest chips installed. If you put in a stick of 4200 with a stick of 3200, the motherboard will run the RAM at 3200.
