Any performance difference between 2x512 and 1x1gb?

u get dual channel with 512mb x 2 giving some extra speed... but with the OCZ u have more room for an upgrade

Alright, I'm back to undecided. The patriot ram, or these - Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory - OEM

I guess if 2x512 is fast, I should just go with the patriot... But I have heard good things about Crucial?

Crucial is definitely a great company. I have the 2 x 1GB kit, and I'm 100% satisfied.

Also, Is it out of the question to run my old 512mb stick of Wintec along side by new ram? Cas latency is 5, speed is 800MHz.

Dual channel won't be that much faster, than running a single stick. And I bet you won't even notice it. Plus, it would be easier to upgrade, by just getting another 1GB of Ballistix. I think if you mix with the Wintec, it will set itself, to match the specs of the Wintec.

The old ram is 800Mhz, the new ram is 800MHz... Would it change the CAS latency and whatnot?

If you're capable of going dual channel, go for it. But you need identical RAM for that to work.
