i have heard that in some cases, more RAM can actually work against you, slowing your computer due to "more memory for the computer to search through". On a windows xp OS, is this true? To clearify, im talking along the lines of 2GBs on RAM. thanks for all replies

all i know is that windows x64 can handle 4gb of RAMn normal windows xp can handle 3gb but 2gb is better for it.

so basicly anything over 2gb will slow you down, unless your running a server.

so i should be safe with 2 then? incase u didnt already guess, i need alot of memory for my applications, but dont want to buy so much that it ends up hurting me. thanks
