Ram question?

I wanna upgrade my ram on my gateway computer from 512 to 1 GB. I ain't gonna be playing a whole lot new games so 1 GB is all I need right now. I was just wondering what brand name I should get, or name what specific ram I should get. Right now I have 512 MB of DDR-SDRAM and need another 512 stick of ram to get to where I need to be.

If you want you could just buy a matched pair for like 70 bucks.

Would that be better to get a matched pair instead of just buying a 512 MB stick and adding it to my existing 512 MB?

A matched pair is always better but two 512's of different brands should be fine together.

It doesn't matter too much really..just try to get the same quality of ram though. So if you have one stick of DDR-400 Cas 3 look for another stick same timings and speed. It doesn't have to be the same brand.

I would watch CompUSA - they have some nice deals after rebates on their RAM. I bought 2x512MB DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) for $79.99 after $40 rebate
