Default Ram question

Hi i'm thinking of getting another GB of ram. I currently have 2 sticks of 512 at the moment. Would the best thing to do be get another 2 512 sticks (4 x 512mb) so they will run in dual channel or would another single GB stick be better. I heard that memory runs slower when more sticks are added but then again Dual channel is meant to counter act this.

AMD 3000+
2gb RAM
X800 PCI-e
80gb + 250gb WD HDDs
X-FI Xtreme Music

If you are running in 1T, don't use four. The best way to go is to sell the current sticks and buy 2x1GB sticks.

If you add one more stick, you'll run in single channel.
