Ram Problems

I have just purchased two pc133mhz sdram 512mb
my computer has two slots and can only have a maximum
of 1gb ram in total, i tried both 512mb together and cannot get
it to boot up properly but if i use my 256mb and my
new 512mb giving it 768mb it works.
My question is this, the boards maximum capacity is
1gb surely there must be a way to achieve this?

try update your motherboard BIOS

how would you go about doing that

depends on ur motherboard brand, usually go to the website of your motherboard brand, and check for "downloads" "update BIOS"

im having trouble finding the right update, my motherboard is a
microstar ms-6340 any guidence would be much appreciated
the computer is a time computer which i believe have gone bust.
