ram problem

lately i have been having a problem with my ram

i have 3- 2gigs to equal 6gig
but sometimes i only show 4 gig

i updated the bios and pulled out the ram and then put it back in

still no luck
sometimes it only reads 4g and other times it shows the whole 6g

any suggestions???

Are you using an aftermarket cooler on the cpu? I've heard of systems having ram issues like yours, it occurs when the heatsink is tightened down causing the motherboard to flex.

Try each stick and ram slot by switching them out.

so it might be my heatsink?
i am using megahalems rev b
built like 3 or 4 months ago

should i get a different heatsink or just take it off and put it back on?
