RAM prices

I've noticed recently (past couple of months) that RAM prices have shot up, often by about 50%; anyone have any idea why, and if it's just over here?

I have seen them rise on ddr3 memory as well. Around 25%
If I were to venture a guess I would say that manufactures over produced and have cut back production.

this is purely speculation on my part.

Surely if they overproduced it would be dirt cheap?

I would say they overproduced hence the low prices. Then cut back production and now demand exceeds supply.

Again pure speculation.
