Hi,
I have a MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard currently with 2x 512Mb sticks of RAM.
I'm wanting to get more RAM and don't know whether to ditch the sticks I have and get 4x 1Gb sticks or just add another 2x 1Gb sticks and deal with 3Gb total.
Would 3Gb of mixed RAM still work a treat? If so, what arrangement of RAM would benefit me the most?
Keeping what I have and totalling 3Gb would obviously be cheaper.

Thanks alot for any help.

Also, I'm doing a little gaming (none online), but mostly media based things like video editing and music.
I know my computer is pretty much an ancient paperweight but can't afford new rig.

Just get 2 x 1GB in addition to your 2 x 512MB. With 4 x 1GB, you would need a 64bit OS to recognize all 4GB. The regular 32bit recognizes up to 3-3.5GB.

Thanks for the help.

Is there any particular way to arrange the RAM in the slots to gain maximum performance?

Install each kit into alternating colored slots. So for example, put the 2 x 512MB sticks in the slots with color A, and put the 2 x 1GB sticks into the slots with color B.
