Don't forget that most generic ram is not dual channel activated which doesn't give a hold back in memory performance, i think all motherboards do have dual channel activate but whether your ram uses is another matter

RAM is not dual channel. It all depends on the motherboard.

I can run any combo of ram I have on any of my computers (it's all cheap no name brand ram) in dual channel on my PC.
