when you buy your cpu, and your installing it...does the heatsink come with thermal grease already applied? or do i have to buy the stuff and manually apply it

The stock coolers come with paste pre-applied.

If you remove the heatsink or have to reseat it, or are getting abnormally high temps. Otherwise you should be fine.

Probably suggest you buy new stuff anyway, like TX-2 and remove the old stuff with isopropyl alcohol before applying the new.

It will help with temperatures a bit but if you dont plan to overclock and just want to run it at stock then dont worry about it.

However I still prefer to put my own on. Can not say I have been inpressed with the stock thermal paste over the years.

I wouldn't touch the thermal compound on a stock HSF, no point to me. I would only put on my own thermal compound if I actually bought an aftermarket HSF, since I personally think it would be a waste on stock.
