I just finished assembling a computer and I have a few questions regarding ram. I have in the mobo right now 1 stick of generic(pulled from a name brand computer) 256mb 2700, and one stick of 512mb 3200. The 512mb stick is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227037
Anyway, I'm wondering if when running these 2 sticks together for a total of 768mb, will the 256mb 2700 stick hurt the performance of the OCZ 512mb 3200 stick? If so would it be wise to run just the 512 stick and leave out the 256? Thanks

It will downclock to the Slowest RAM Stick.

IMO you should have just bought a Matched Pair 1 GB (2X512's), In the first place.

So yea, if you won't buy anything new leave the 512 in there.

The motherboard will downclock the 3200 to 2700 speed, or the speed of the slowest stick.

Actually, there's not a world of difference between 2700 and 3200, so I doubt you'd notice. 768 > 512.

I'd leave it in. Unless you can get another stick the same speed as one or the other and go dual-channel, I'd leave it as is.

Alright I guess I'll just leave it in, thanks for the replies. This computer is for someone who will not be doing anything memory-intensive; just E-Mail, word processing, etc. I only had a certain amount of money to work with so could not afford another 512 stick.
